How to Optimise Your Production Process with a Boix Forming Machine

Heemskerk Fresh & Easy is one of our customers that started with only 1 machine, but nowhas 9 Boix machines!
In 1960, Wim Heemskerk laid the foundation of Heemskerk Fresh & Easywith the production and sale of bags of sliced vegetables for soup for the wholesale market, known as the “Groothandelsmarkt” in Amsterdam.
In these 60 years, Heemskerk Fresh & Easy has developed into a modern, cutting-edge fruit and vegetable processing company offering innovative products and concepts. They currently supply around 3.5 million fresh products every week to retailers and fast food chains, both in the Netherlands and abroad.
In the past, Heemskerk worked together with an assembly centre, which was responsible for gluing, forming and shipping the cardboard boxes to Heemskerk, with the consequent cost in transportation and logistics. Over the years, both demand and production increased, so the time was right for Heemskerk to invest in its own Boix machines.
After consultation with Boix Europe, it was finally decided to implement a complete box production line, consisting of several plate preloaders, forming machines and box stackers, thus automating the entire manufacturing and production process.
Preloaders are add-ons that can be placed behind or next to the machine to supply the blanks, i.e. they create an additional buffer of about 1,000 blanks (BE flute) and automatically fill the existing magazine of the machine. This will eventually lead to labour cost savings and improved productivity.
Boix machines are located at the beginning of the production line at the Heemskerks factory, from where Boix machines and accessories are responsible for forming, gluing and supplying the boxes to the 30 production lines in the factory.
Data to be highlighted:
- Heemskerk Fresh & Easy has 9 Boix Forming Machines, 2 Preloaders and 9 Stackers.
- The machines operate 7 days a week for at least 16 hours a day.
- During these years, Heemskerk has formed more than 110 million boxes!!!!
- Logistics: 1 truckload of blanks (33 Euro Pallets) is equivalent to 8 truckloads of assembled boxes.
